How do I get to Salida?
- The two closest airports to Salida are Denver International Airport and Colorado Springs Airport.
- Both airports have rental car options.
- There is a bus that runs from Union Station in Denver to Salida (https://www.greyhound.com/en). Please check availability as routes have changed due to COVID-19.

- Driving Directions
- From Denver area (travel time around 2 hours 45 min): Take US HWY 285 South for 132 miles. Turn left onto CO-291 South. Follow this through downtown (it will turn into 1st Street and then Oak Street). Turn left on US HWY 50 East (signs for Canon City). Drive 0.3 miles and turn right onto Paradise Road. Follow this road to the top, enter the property through the gate. Continue past the B&B on the left and follow the road to the chalets where we’ll greet you.
- From Colorado Springs area (travel time around 2 hours): Take CO-115 South for about 35 miles. Turn right onto US HWY 50 West and stay on this road for 66.5 miles. Turn left onto Paradise Road. Follow this road to the top, enter the property through the gate. Continue past the B&B on the left and follow the road to the chalets where we’ll greet you.
- From Pueblo area (travel time about 2 hours): Take US HWY 50 West for 97.2 miles. Turn left onto Paradise Road. Follow this road to the top, enter the property through the gate. Continue past the B&B on the left and follow the road to the chalets where we’ll greet you.
- From Alamosa area (or points South): Take CO-17 North for 49.8 miles. Take a slight left to merge onto US HWY 285 North for 25.9 miles. Take a right onto US HWY 50 East for 5.3 miles. Turn right onto Paradise Road. Follow this road to the top, enter the property through the gate. Continue past the B&B on the left and follow the road to the chalets where we’ll greet you.
- From Gunnison area (or points West): Take US HWY 50 East until you arrive in Salida. Stay on US HWY 50 through town and turn right onto Paradise Road. Follow this road to the top, enter the property through the gate. Continue past the B&B on the left and follow the road to the chalets where we’ll greet you.
What are transportation options in Salida?
- Salida is a small town that is fairly easy to get around. The lodging for the retreat is about 2 miles from downtown and is easily accessible by car or bike.
- There are no public transportation or rental car options available in Salida but there is a taxi service (rockymountaintaxi.com). There is also a place to rent jeeps and off-road vehicles (rockymountainjeeprentals.com).
- We will provide transportation to trailheads for the group runs and to town for group excursions as needed.
What should I bring?
- Trail running shoes
- Running clothes and socks for both warm and cool weather (weather in Colorado can have drastic shifts)
- Breathable, comfortable clothing for the awareness through movement practices
- Casual clothing for hanging around the chalets or going into town
- Rain gear
- Personal toiletries
- Medical insurance card
- Sunscreen
- Water bottle
- Hat and sunglasses
- Hydration systems for runs (handheld bottles or wearable hydration)
- River shoes (optional if you want to get in the river)
What will the weather be like?
- Fall is a beautiful time in Salida with mild temperatures and scenic vistas. Average highs in September are between 70 and 77 degrees Fahrenheit (rarely falling below 60 or exceeding 84 degrees F). Average lows are between 40 and 48 degrees Fahrenheit (rarely falling below 32 or above 54 degrees F).
- Weather can change drastically even within one day given our location in the Rocky Mountains. Be prepared for cool mornings and evenings and warm days.
What COVID-19 precautions are you taking?
- We will be following local public health guidelines regarding COVID-19 precautions.
- More specific guidelines may be outlined as the retreat approaches.
Who are these retreats for?
- Our camps are designed for all adults 18 and over from all different backgrounds and levels of running. If you have questions about whether the retreat is suitable for you, we encourage you to contact us to discuss your concerns.
